The adrenaline rush must have been intense because I felt sick right after winning and had to lie down for about half a day. My condition was bad, so I told my family to call an ambulance if it didn’t improve. Fortunately, I recovered significantly. I owe this win to everyone who lent me their Axies, helped with scrims and practice, and supported me throughout. My scholar, who is Japanese, has always been very supportive, even cheering me on during ranking battles and finals. I believe I made it this far thanks to everyone’s support. Thank you very much.
Lunacians, the S9 Preseason starts today! For the next two weeks, you get to test the new balancing updates, show off your skills and collection on the Collectible Leaderboard, and try out the fresh Starter Axies. There’s a lot to unpack, so let’s get into it.
Today, we’re excited to introduce the Season 9 balancing patch. In this update, we focused on level 2 parts and reworked most cards. With these changes, we’re hoping to level the playing field and provide more use cases for evolved axie parts. Additionally, we’ve also refined the Runes and Charms to ensure fair and balanced competitive gameplay. Check out the changes below:
We’ve disabled the S8 Runes and Charms from your axies to prepare for the next season. Starting today, you can buy a free S9 R/C test kit from the Origins Shop. This test period is an opportunity to experiment with the new Runes and Charms before Season 9 kicks off! Here’s the R/C unlock schedule for the preseason:
29 May: Unlock Rare S8.5 Box
1 Jun: Unlock Epic S8.5 Box
5 Jun: Unlock Mystic S8.5 Box
Towards the end of this testing period, players will also get to compete in the Preseason Cup — vying for AXS rewards and fine-tuning their S9 strategies. Stay tuned for more details on the Preseason Cup.
The Preseason Collectible Leaderboard is now LIVE! If you own collectible axies, battle for 4,000 AXS from May 29th at 3:30 AM UTC to June 12th at 3:00 AM UTC. Imagine collectible axies as entry tickets to an exclusive club. You get rewards while showing off your collection in battles. That’s just one of the powers of collectible axies, and that’s how the Preseason Collectible Leaderboard works.
To start earning points for the Collectible Leaderboard, enter the arena with at least one of your collectible axies. You’ll score points for every win and climb up the leaderboard. It’s time for your collection to shine! Are you ready?

Challenger Rank = 32 Points
Collection Bonus = 1 + 3 + 1.5 + 0.75 = 6.25
Base = 1
Mystic = 3
Origin = 1.5
Xmas = 0.75
Total Points = 32 x 6.25 = 200
The newest additions to the Starter Axie family are now ready to rock the arena! Add Bard and Machito to your crew and get ready to dazzle the other team with their musical moves. Choose between swarming your enemies with Bard’s fan club or distracting them with Machito’s groovy maraca beats.
Bard and Machito are now available in the Origins Shop. For 1,000 gems each, you can unlock both axies and start using them right away. Check out their cards, Runes, and Charms below:
As we’ve announced before, the SLP rewards balancing will also go live in today’s update. Together with the 44B supply cap and the SLP Buyback Fund, this change helps us get closer to our goal of keeping SLP deflation at 2%.
